Behold I do a New Thing!
Written content available
As we begin a new year, resolutions are proclaimed all around. Posts about doing new things fill our timelines. Yet as the year goes on, these resolutions fade, just like the flurry of activities and new faces present in places like the gym, health shops and even church. In this post we will examine Isaiah 43 which has some verses that are also very popular at this time of the year as people embrace doing new things. We will not just focus on the promise of a new thing but also reflect on what was no longer working to prompt God to desire to do a new thing. As you move forward into this new year, let us take some time to reflect and decide how we want to move into the new thing with God.
Obedience: God’s Assurance, Response and Consequences
Audio and written content available
There are many stories in the Bible that admonish us to obey God, keep His commandments and do as He instructs us to do. We know that it is in our best interest to obey but there are times when this is very difficult to do especially when the outcome is uncertain. In this Biblical nugget we will examine the importance of obedience to God. I was reminded in a very real way of our humanness and our struggle to act in obedience to God as I read the story of King Amaziah found in 2 Chronicles 25. I was reminded of the assurance that comes from obedience to God in this chapter and also of the very harsh and real consequences of disobedience to God. If you are struggling to obey God and stay on the right path this post is for you!

The Potter and the Clay
Video and written content available
This post examines the meaning of God as the Potter and we as the clay. It explores this concept as presented in passages such as Isaiah 64:8 and Jeremiah 18:1–6. The scriptures in both the Old and New Testament remind us of God’s sovereignty. This sovereignty is wrapped up in the idea of God as Potter. We are also reminded of how God lovingly shapes our lives for His purpose, even through seasons of pressure, breaking, and remolding.
Faith in God
Audio and written content available
In this post we explore our understanding of faith as more than a tool we use to access miracles, healing and deliverance from God. We examine scriptures on the importance of faith in activating God’s divine power in our lives. We also explore an often overlooked principle that underpins faith, that is, the nature and character of God. This is really the crux of this post because faith is possible because of who God is. We ponder why mature faith takes us beyond expecting a positive outcome based on our measure of faith. We consider the importance of God’s sovereignty in evaluating our faith and the response we get from God. This is a useful post as we navigate our journey through different states of brokenness.
The Meaning of Peace
Audio and written content available
This post explores the concept of peace in line with Godly peace. Jesus promised us a peace that differs from what is given by the world. This peace is not found in our possession or our accomplishments. It is a peace that transcends even our darkest moments. The peace that God gives exists even while we are facing trials, tribulations, loss, grief, sickness and other painful experiences. It is a peace that surpasses worldly understanding of peace. I invite you to examine this concept of peace as you grow in faith.
